Landfill Gas Scrubber
The landfill gas cleaning system has been designed to reduce siloxanes and organic chloride content of the biogas. The scrubber utilizes a chilled fluid that is re-circulated until it reaches its saturation point, at which time can be disposed of with the leachate collected from the landfill.
Descripion:

The landfill gas cleaning system, fabricated entirely in stainless steel, reduces the presence of siloxanes and hydrocarbons.
The landfill gas enters the first tower where the scrubber showers the gas utilizing a nebulized fluid, this is followed by complete immersion of the gas in the collection basin, allowing the various contaminates to be separated. After this phase, the gas enters the second tower where it passes through a series of traps and filters to eliminate excess moisture that could be detrimental to the combustion process. The collection basin is designed to allow the purging of the various contaminates while the system is in operation so as not to adversely affect the production of the facility.
For every single application the operation parameters defined including the fluid temperature, the differential gas pressure between the intake and outlet, time of interval for changing the cleaning fluid, in order to ensure that the system operates at optimal efficiency. Both the collection basin as well as the second tower are equipped with inspection windows to quickly verify the fluid level and the state of cleanliness of the filters/traps The pump, re-circulation and all other parameters system are controlled via a PLC. In addition, it is possible to integrate into the control panel the ability to monitor and modify the operating parameters via internet.
The system requires a chiller to maintain the cleaning fluid at a constant temperature of approximately 10°C.
How it works
The landfill gas cleaning system has been designed to reduce siloxanes and organic chloride content of the biogas. The scrubber utilizes a chilled fluid that is re-circulated until it reaches its saturation point, at which time can be disposed of with the leachate collected from the landfill. The landfill gas enters the first tower where the scrubber showers the gas and allows the impurities to settle out in the collection basin, while the second tower act to remove excess moisture that could be detrimental to the combustion process. There is the possibility to introduce a flocculent into the basin to increase settlement. The basin is equipped with a purge system to allow continuous operation.
From the analyses carried out, the system is able to reduce the siloxane content by at least 80% and the cholride content by more than 60%.
Guaranteeing a more pure combustion gas provides endless benefits to the owner/operator including reduced maintenance intervals and longer oil life.
