RIGENERATIVE THERMAL OXIDIZER (RTO)
Recently Energy Solution has designed a new RTO specifically for application to combustion engines and capable of destroying volatile organic compounds (VOC) and carbon monoxide (CO), which are present in industrial processes discharges.
VOC / CO destruction occurs with the process of thermal oxidation at high temperatures, converting the VOC / CO into carbon dioxide and water vapor. To reduce management costs, the system, once brought up to temperature, from start-up period of two or three hours, take a retrieval system, exchanging heat flows in the two hot tubs filled with ceramic material. In this way allows the heating of one with respect to the cooling of the other, creating a condition, in most cases, of self-maintenance.
How it works
RTO system start-up using the exhaust fumes to heat the ceramic mass. After a few minutes heating system intervenes. This system consists of electric heating elements, which allows to reach a temperature close to that of exercise. To accelerate the achievement of the reduction process comes into operation a system of injection of small quantities of gas directly into the reaction chamber.
A PLC controls and operates completely autonomously, from power already in RT, all its functions including those of arrest. This would exclude almost completely the operator intervention
